Known since the days of the great humanist ruler Mátyás Corvinus (15th century), the
establishment was, according to early documents, once directly connected to the royal
palace. The Turkish baths (Rác and Rudas) built here in the 16th century still operate today.

Contemporary sources reported about the building, completed in 1918, as follows: „… The
monumental architecture, classical in its propertions but Hungarian in its design with a slight
Oriental touch, of the enormous building of the Saint Gellért Spa and Hotel catch the eye of
the visitors.” Indeed, the artistic impression of the spa, located near the Danube, is created
by the wonderful sculptures, ceramic mosaic tiles and tinted glass incorporated. This artistic
effect is present not only in the interior, but characterises the open air facilities, such as the
pools and the wave pool, as well.
Composition of the water:
Radioactive thermal water containing sodium, potassium-magnesium-hydrocarbonate and
sulphates, with significant fluoride contents.

Indications:
Degenerative disorders of joints and the spine, chronic and subacute arthritis, herniated
nucleus pulposus, chronic inflammatory airway diseases, gastroenteritis, neuralgia,
neuralgic pain, low bone mineral contents.
